Film Resumé: Fati Hamidou is a young 24 year old woman handicapped by polio. Regardless, she is very active, an artist, an athlete, a seamstress and a feminist. Fati is one courageous remarkable woman.

Recognized as an international athlete, Fati has represented Niger in several sports including weightlifting and bicycle racing bringing home many medals. Thanks to her efforts, Niger was placed 14th of 53 countries in the African Games in Abuja, Nigeria in October 2003. Her next challenge to achieve was to attend the Para Olympic games in China in September 2008.

Determined to defeat poverty, Fati has dreamed of creating an artisan workshop to share her knowledge with her peers to help them improve their living conditions. Unfortunately this project has been restricted due to lack of funding. With the same vision, Fati works with the group ALKAWALI of talented handicapped craftspeople in Niamey, Niger to encourage a better way of life.
